What the job is

This is a Hospitality Intern position at Makers Landing, which is part of the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, Western Cape. The role is designed to give practical work experience and training to people studying hospitality. You will also get the chance to meet and network with leaders in the hospitality industry.

What you will do

You will help make sure that daily operations at Makers Landing run smoothly. Your tasks will include managing all wet and dry storage areas, as well as the commercial kitchen equipment, events equipment, and demo kitchen equipment. You will also be responsible for keeping these areas clean and hygienic. Additionally, you will coordinate daily projects and checklists according to a set schedule, attend meetings, and keep records of stock and equipment. You will assist with planning and maintaining inventory to control costs and reduce waste. Another important part of the job is gathering feedback from tenants and customers and sharing it with the right teams. Finally, you must ensure that all activities follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

What you need

To apply, you must be a South African citizen and currently studying hospitality or a related field that requires workplace experience as part of your qualification. You should be willing to learn on the job and have a basic understanding of health and safety rules. You must also be available to work shifts, including weekends.
