What the job is

This is a contract position for a Festive Season Sales Assistant at Cape Union Mart International, located in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Eastern Cape. The role involves working 120 hours per month during the busy festive period to support the store’s sales and customer service operations.

What you will do

You will provide excellent customer service by using selling techniques to meet and exceed customer expectations. You will follow stock loss control procedures to protect store inventory. You will consistently meet your individual sales targets and look for opportunities to increase sales. You will maintain store cleanliness and ensure visual merchandising standards are upheld to attract customers. You will also help create a positive and fun work environment for the team.

What you need

You should have at least 6 months of retail experience, though this is not mandatory. A Matric certificate or equivalent qualification is preferred. You must have a clear criminal record and be proficient in English. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude are essential. You should be friendly, helpful, confident, and engaging. Honesty in handling cash and finances is required, along with the ability to build relationships and adapt to change.
