A furniture design and manufacturing company based in Cape Town, Western Cape, is looking for a skilled Draughtsman to join their team. This is a permanent position for someone who enjoys technical drawing, 3D modeling, and working with furniture production processes. The company specializes in designing and making furniture, and they need someone with experience to help create detailed plans and improve their products.

As a Draughtsman, your main job will be to create accurate technical drawings and 3D models of furniture designs. You will work closely with the design and production teams to ensure all plans meet the company’s quality standards. Your drawings will be used to create shop drawings, which are detailed instructions for how the furniture should be built. You will also prepare Bills of Materials, which list all the parts and materials needed for each product. Another important part of the job is understanding how furniture is made, including the types of materials used and the best ways to produce each piece. You will need to communicate clearly with other team members to solve any problems that come up during the design or production process.

To qualify for this job, you should have a qualification in Draughting, Industrial Design, Furniture Design, or a similar field. You must have experience working as a Draughtsman, and it would be a big advantage if this experience was in the furniture or manufacturing industry. You should be very comfortable using CAD software and 3D modeling tools, as these will be key parts of your daily work. Experience creating detailed shop drawings and Bills of Materials is also important. The job requires a strong understanding of how furniture is made, including the materials and methods used in production. You need to pay close attention to detail to ensure all drawings and plans are accurate. Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are also essential because you will be working with different teams and solving technical challenges.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary of between R250,000 and R450,000 per year.
