What the job is

This is a Diesel Mechanic position at Fraser Alexander (Pty) Ltd., a company in the mining industry. The job is based in Mpumalanga. The main purpose of this role is to provide efficient maintenance services for plant and equipment while strictly following all safety rules and procedures.

What you will do

You will follow all company policies, safety rules, and legal requirements, including attending safety and pre-shift meetings as well as training sessions. You will operate and use tools and equipment safely while maintaining good housekeeping standards. Your duties include completing inspections and reports, assisting with repair specifications, and reporting any faults or problems to the Foreman. You will perform both planned and unplanned maintenance on plant and equipment to keep them working at full capacity. You must ensure all safety standards are met before starting any task, including neutralizing electrical, kinetic, and potential energy sources. Any accidents, incidents, or safety issues must be reported immediately.

What you need

You need a Grade 12 certificate, an N3 qualification or equivalent, and a Diesel Mechanic Trade Test (Red Seal). You must have at least three years of experience working with Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) in a mining environment. Strong skills in observing, planning, problem-solving, organizing, and decision-making are required. You should also have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to meet the requirements of an annual medical examination.
