Badger Holdings is looking for an experienced Data Scientist to work in their office in George, Western Cape. The company uses data to solve real-world problems in the insurance industry. They want someone who can take charge of machine learning projects and turn business questions into practical solutions.

You will be responsible for managing the entire process of machine learning projects, including preparing and cleaning data, building features for models, developing and deploying models, and monitoring their performance over time. Your work will involve troubleshooting issues with deployed solutions and ensuring data pipelines remain reliable.

You will explore data to find useful patterns and trends, create clear documentation for models and pipelines, and build dashboards/reporting tools for business teams.

Requirements:
- Degree or honours qualification in data science
- 5+ years of experience in insurance/financial services
- 5+ years of hands-on ML experience (data prep to deployment)
- Strong skills in Python/R, SQL, and Snowflake
- Experience with claims modelling and survival analysis
- Understanding of statistical modelling and time series forecasting

Advantageous:
- Short-term insurance exposure
- ML platform experience
- Proficiency in Power BI/Qlik/Tableau
