What the job is

Freedom Stationery (Pty) Ltd is looking for a motivated and detail-focused Buyer to join their Procurement team on a fixed-term contract. This position is based in Cornubia, KwaZulu-Natal, and is perfect for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience in procurement within a manufacturing company. The role involves helping the team buy materials, goods, and services efficiently while meeting quality and cost standards.

What you will do

You will assist with finding and purchasing materials and services needed for the company’s operations. You will prepare and process purchase orders accurately and on time. You will keep records of procurement activities, pricing, and supplier communications. You will help identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, as well as manage relationships with existing ones. You will compare quotes from suppliers and support price negotiations. You will work with the inventory team to match purchasing with demand forecasts and monitor order progress to avoid supply risks. You will also help with cost-saving initiatives and ensure all procurement activities follow company policies. Additionally, you will maintain documentation for audits and work with other departments like production, logistics, and finance to resolve supply issues.

What you need

You need a Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. You should have 1 to 2 years of experience in procurement, buying, or supply chain, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG. Experience with ERP systems like SAP and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills are beneficial. You must have a basic understanding of procurement processes, inventory control, and strong attention to detail. Good communication, organizational skills, and an analytical mindset are also required. You should be professional, honest, and eager to learn.
