What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Business Development Manager at Metair Investments Limited, based in Gauteng. The role focuses on growing and improving the First Battery franchise network by finding new business opportunities, expanding the network, and building strong partnerships.

What you will do

You will help create and implement the franchise strategy, annual plans, and budgets. You will identify new market opportunities, assess potential locations, and prepare business cases for network growth. You will manage the entire process of opening new stores, from initial enquiry to post-launch support, coordinating with various departments like Legal, Finance, Marketing, and Operations. You will build strong relationships with franchisees through regular visits, business reviews, and meetings. You will analyze store performance, customer experience, and digital presence to develop improvement plans. You will also negotiate commercial agreements, support training programs, and monitor industry trends to drive innovation and profitability.

What you need

You need a relevant degree in Business Management, Commerce, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field. You must have at least 5 years of experience in business development, franchising, retail, key accounts, or commercial project management. Experience in a franchise or multi-site retail environment is essential. Strong commercial and financial skills, including budgeting, pricing, and data analysis, are required. You should have excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills, along with the ability to lead cross-functional teams. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel nationally are also necessary.
