What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Business Development Consultant based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The role focuses on growing the company’s client base and increasing sales, particularly in the food hygiene services industry. The job is permanent and offers a cost-to-company salary package.

What you will do

You will actively search for and engage potential clients to expand the company’s market share. You will manage the creation of high-quality proposals, bids, and tender responses, ensuring they are professional, timely, and compliant. You will follow up on leads generated through various channels, including cold calling, and survey potential opportunities. You will also identify weaknesses in the sales process and address them to improve efficiency. Additionally, you will train the team on food hygiene standards like ISO22000/FSSC22000 and R638, and assist with drafting pre-requisite programs (PRPs) for food hygiene. You will work closely with regional managers to discuss existing contracts and strategic initiatives to meet or exceed annual growth targets. You will also implement marketing and sales strategies to achieve monthly sales budgets and identify new growth opportunities by market segment.

What you need

You must have a bachelor’s degree or national diploma in sales, business development, marketing, or a related field. A matric certificate is also required. You need at least 3 years of solid experience in business development and sales best practices, preferably in the food hygiene services industry. Strong knowledge of sales and marketing is essential. Skills in cold calling, business development, and managing tenders are also required.
