What the job is

This is a full-time position for an Aftermarket Contract Manager at Fermel, a company in the mining and metals industry. The role is based in Alberton, Gauteng, but requires frequent travel to Platreef Mine in Mokopane. The manager will oversee the delivery of aftermarket services, including equipment maintenance, spare parts management, and customer relationship handling for Fermel’s underground mining equipment at the mine.

What you will do

You will manage the aftermarket contract at Platreef Mine, ensuring all contractual obligations, service-level agreements, and performance targets are met. This includes coordinating equipment maintenance, managing spare parts availability, and overseeing site-based personnel. You will also handle customer relationships, financial management of the contract, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Additionally, you will prepare operational reports, monitor equipment performance, and address any technical or operational issues that arise.

What you need

You need a National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field, or a trade qualification with substantial experience. A qualification in Business or Operations Management would be beneficial. You must have at least 7–10 years of experience in mining equipment maintenance, aftermarket services, or technical operations, with 3–5 years in contract or site management. Experience with underground mining equipment and managing multidisciplinary teams is essential. A valid driver’s licence is also required.
