What the job is

GAS Accounting is hiring an experienced Account Manager to work in Sandton, Gauteng. This is a permanent role where you will be the main contact for a group of clients. You will lead a team that handles their bookkeeping, financial reports, and compliance tasks. The job is fast-paced and involves working directly with clients in a modern, cloud-based accounting practice.

What you will do

You will manage a portfolio of clients and hold regular meetings to discuss their financial results and strategies. You will present management accounts and explain the numbers in a clear, actionable way. You will review and approve bookkeeping, financial statements, and compliance submissions to ensure accuracy. You will make sure all tax and regulatory filings, such as VAT, payroll taxes, and income tax, are submitted correctly and on time. You will also handle communication with SARS, identify tax planning opportunities, and prepare annual financial statements within deadlines. Additionally, you will lead and develop junior team members, manage workflows using Karbon, onboard new clients, and maintain accurate records in systems like Xero, Dext, Hubdoc, and SimplePay.

What you need

You must have at least 3 years of experience in an accounting practice, managing a portfolio of clients. You should hold a professional designation such as SAIPA, CIMA, AGA(SA), or CA(SA). Strong leadership skills are required, as you will be leading a team. Experience with software like Xero, Sage, Dext, Hubdoc, SimplePay, and Karbon is a plus. You need a solid understanding of South African tax laws and compliance requirements. Excellent communication, presentation, and attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to work under pressure.
