Job Title: Workshop Foreman Coordinator
Location: Kempton Park, Johannesburg, Gauteng
A leading food manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Workshop Foreman Coordinator with strong experience in maintenance stores, engineering spares, and equipment calibration to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated maintenance professional to drive operational efficiency by overseeing maintenance stores and workshop operations, managing engineering spares, and ensuring equipment is calibrated. Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain a purchasing framework for engineering goods, including engineering stores, spares, and equipment.
- Place orders for Engineering spares, stock, and equipment and administration of the purchasing process.
- Maintain optimal stock levels in Engineering stores, and perform regular stock takes of items in maintenance stores.
- Monitor the workshop team and environment to ensure operations are in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Liaise with the Operations department to prioritize jobs according to production requirements.
- Liaise with the Quality Assurance department to ensure food safety, quality, and product specifications are constantly met or exceeded.
- Conduct assessments to identify mechanical and procedural limitations that minimize work efficiency.
- Ensure all materials are maximized and all waste levels are minimized through the value chain.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a qualified artisan with a strong track record of running a maintenance store, ordering parts, services, and equipment.
- Experience in the food industry will be an advantage.
- SYSPRO experience would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
- Understanding and experience with equipment calibrations, legal inspections, and record keeping.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing also an advantage.
- Strong team-building and people management skills.
- A strong sense of urgency.
- Adequate knowledge of business and management principles.
- Good interpersonal relationship and communication skills, both in oral and written.
- Good decision-maker, analytical, and logical.
- Ability to demonstrate accountability and to lead by example.
