Experienced Waiter – Upper Union Restaurant

Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Department: Front of House
Reports to: Restaurant Manager / Floor Supervisor
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

We are looking for a professional and personable Experienced Waiter to join our Front of House team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in high-end hospitality, a passion for food and wine, and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest service.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive and personalised service to guests throughout their dining experience.
  • Guide guests through the menu, offering recommendations and answering questions about dishes and beverages.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and accurate order delivery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the dining area.
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Process payments accurately and efficiently.
  • Support team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Uphold the restaurant’s standards of presentation, etiquette, and service.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a waiter in a premium or fine-dining establishment.
  • Strong knowledge of food, wine, and beverage service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Professional appearance and demeanour.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and reservation platforms is a plus.
  • Wine or hospitality certifications are advantageous.
