Job Title: Cloud & Server – Vulnerability Engineer
Location: Durban / Cape Town

Role Overview
They are seeking an experienced Cloud & Server Engineer with a strong focus on vulnerability management. This role is critical in identifying, assessing, and prioritising security vulnerabilities across the organisation’s systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure timely remediation, strengthening the company’s overall security posture and reducing risk exposure.
You will act as a subject matter expert on security risks and serve as a trusted advisor for security best practices across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Detect and classify vulnerabilities using automated scanning tools and manual analysis.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to drive effective remediation.
- Contribute to the organisation’s long-term security and risk strategy.
- Continuously refine vulnerability management processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Provide hands-on remediation support when needed.
- Work alongside governance, risk, and compliance teams to address vulnerabilities and risk scoring.
- Conduct and support penetration testing activities (internal and external).
- Manage and maintain the organisation’s Cyber Threat Intelligence Platform.
- Analyse penetration testing outcomes and coordinate with teams to address identified weaknesses.
- Respond to queries from internal stakeholders on vulnerability management.
- Assist in handling security alerts, incidents, and escalations.
- Review and communicate findings from threat and incident analyses.
- Prepare and present regular metrics on system security, threat trends, and patch management status.

- Proficiency with automated vulnerability scanning tools and triage workflows.

Minimum Requirements
- Relevant Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Experience
- At least 5 years’ engineering experience in a mission-critical production environment.
- Practical experience with endpoint and agent-based security technologies.
