We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced Unit Manager to lead the Emergency Unit. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, ensuring high-quality patient care, and fostering a motivated, high-performing team. Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Management
People Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and inspire the Emergency Unit team to deliver exceptional care aligned with strategic goals
- Create a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages performance and accountability
- Recruit, retain, develop, and manage staff in accordance with the hospital’s people policies
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Uphold and promote the highest standards of quality patient care
- Cultivate strong professional relationships with doctors and medical stakeholders
- Champion quality initiatives across the unit and promote stakeholder buy-in
Financial & Strategic Oversight
- Contribute to budget planning and take proactive steps to meet or exceed financial targets
- Manage unit expenses, revenue, and working capital to optimize financial performance
- Uphold strong governance practices with transparency, compliance, and ethical standards
Governance & Risk Control
- Drive effective risk management strategies and ensure all operations adhere to business governance principles
- Monitor compliance and implement quality and safety systems across the unit
Minimum Requirements
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse
- A post-basic qualification in Emergency Nursing or a relevant management diploma is advantageous
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Unit Manager within a private healthcare environment
- Computer literate and comfortable using hospital information systems
