Job Description


Hire Tresolve’s client, a reputable insurance company, is looking for a dedicated Personal Lines Underwriter to join their team in Bryanston. This permanent position plays a key role in assessing and managing personal insurance risks, issuing policies, and delivering top-tier client service. The ideal candidate will bring underwriting expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to supporting both clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

Underwriting & Policy Management

  • Issue new policies, renewals, and endorsements using the C360 System

  • Prepare new business quotes

  • Underwrite in line with company standards, policies, and procedures

  • Support the sales team in acquiring and retaining profitable business

  • Negotiate renewal terms and prepare renewal documentation

  • Conduct renewal reviews and ensure timely completion

  • Monitor and act on survey requirements

  • Identify and rectify unprofitable policies

  • Ensure policies are correctly exposed and checked before client dispatch

Client Service & Communication

  • Handle client queries and amendments via telephone and email

  • Resolve queries in accordance with company standards

  • Ensure documentation is accurate, authorised where required, and dispatched promptly

  • Save all work electronically for future reference

Service Delivery & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain high service quality and output within functional processes

  • Resolve escalated customer queries and provide feedback

  • Develop routines aligned with operational goals

  • Recommend process improvements for better service delivery

Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Align behaviour with company values and culture

  • Share knowledge and support team development

  • Collaborate with Underwriting team to meet service level requirements

Requirements

  • Matric

  • NQF Level 5 in Short-Term Insurance

  • Regulatory Exam Level 1

  • DOFA confirmation from FSB

  • Personal Lines Class of Business

  • Cardinal 360 system experience (advantageous)

  • Minimum 2 years of Personal Underwriting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of the personal insurance and financial services industry
