An exciting opportunity exists for a Transport Supervisor at Indigo Brands, Cape Town. As the successful incumbent you will have to oversee and manage the transport operations within the Distribution Centre, ensuring efficient scheduling, high fleet standards, regulatory compliance, and the provision of excellent service to internal and external customers.

Job Specification:
Key Performance Areas:

Staff Management

  • Manage and oversee the performance of transport and assigned warehouse staff, including conducting debriefs, training, corrective actions, and disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Despatching of drivers when required.

Customer relations and issue resolution

  • Maintain daily communication with AVI customers and assist Client Liaison Officer’s in resolving delivery related issues.
  • Visit customers to handle claims, queries, and proof of deliveries (PODs) as and when required.

Fleet uptime and compliance management

  • Ensure fleet standards remain high and that vehicle operations comply with legislation requirements.
  • Monitor tire and wheel alignment, investigate fuel consumption, and update fleet and driver information on Mix telematics.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of vehicle maintenance, service, and repairs.
  • Conduct monthly fleet audits and coordinate defect repairs with approved service providers to minimize downtimes.

Scheduling and Documentation

  • Plan and execute daily delivery schedules, arrange staffing and vehicles, and issue delivery documentation to staff.
  • Generate required daily, weekly, and monthly reports for the department.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a Transport Supervisor or in a similar role in a Distribution Centre environment
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role                                                                                

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12/ Matric or equivalent
  • Certificate in Logistics supervision or Management would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of Transport management and distribution principles would be advantageous

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be computer literate – MS Office preferably
  • Strong communication skills
  • Valid drivers license
