A well-established manufacturing facility in Blackheath, Cape Town, is seeking a skilled Tradesman with hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance within a fast-paced industrial environment. This is a great opportunity for a technically capable and reliable professional to ensure the smooth operation of machinery, minimize downtime, and contribute to overall plant efficiency and safety. Responsibilities:

• Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Ensure daily and weekly planning is done and work is scheduled accordingly.
• Perform any work-related duties when instructed.
• Clean equipment and tools.
• Ensure the company’s buildings and facilities are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
• Provide manual labour assistance on various tasks and assignments.
• Ensure sites are cleaned; no rivets, plastic components, etc., left lying around.
• Use hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, saws, conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, hacksaws, etc.
• Secure brackets to bulkheads and pull wires through conduit.
• Comply with all reasonable instructions.
• Select the type and size of work required.
• Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures.
• Cut holes as needed.
• Install supports and hangers for pipes, fixtures, and equipment.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Trade Test Certificate.
• Certification or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance within a manufacturing setting.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
• Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
• Attention to detail and strong commitment to safety standards.
