Responsibilities

  • Handling cash deposits and withdrawals
  • Processing EFTs and internal transfers
  • Closing accounts
  • Performing intersystem transfers (Debit Card to Investment Account)
  • Processing investment transfers (Investment Account to Debit Card)
  • Reversing fees when necessary
  • Ensuring daily processed work balances at the end of the working day
  • Adhering to security procedures to minimize risk
  • Updating statistics on SharePoint
  • Reporting suspicious transactions
  • Scanning and uploading documentation (deposits, withdrawals, etc.) and teller reconciliations
  • Capturing EFTs, profit instructions, and debit orders
  • Processing Forex orders placed by customers via phone or walk-in
  • Obtaining necessary documentation, including FICA, for deal processing
  • Confirming appointments and booking exchange rates
  • Providing clients with banking details and payment amounts
  • Processing Forex deals on iMal and GTS systems
  • Completing all administrative requirements for finalized deals
  • Ensuring compliance with SARB (South African Reserve Bank) and bank policies
  • Identifying and reporting suspicious transactions
  • Balancing and securing foreign cash daily
  • Managing foreign cash limits daily
  • Assisting clients with deposit and withdrawal slips
  • Processing cash and transfer requests while verifying balances, signatures, and FICA compliance
  • Handling early withdrawal requests for walk-in clients
  • Providing statements and IT3Bs, with applicable charges
  • Authorizing ex-branch withdrawals
  • Obtaining relevant FICA documents and updating CIFS on iMal
  • Assisting clients with updating personal information
  • Addressing customer queries regarding bank products and services
  • Extracting and compiling Transactional Banking reports
  • Issuing replacement debit cards
  • Referring clients to appropriate consultants based on their needs
  • Providing and maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Handling customer complaints and directing them to the relevant departments
  • Managing security items
  • Ensuring the banking hall remains neat and presentable at all times
  • Assisting clients with Internet Banking and Mobile App registration
  • Performing manual security checks on ATMs
  • Assisting with back-office functions and ad-hoc projects
  • Processing release and indemnity requests as per COD procedures
  • Promoting cross-sales of the Bank’s products
  • Delivering professional and efficient service to clients
  • Handling queries professionally and promptly via email and in-person
  • Ensuring all functions comply with internal procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Verifying client identity for all transactions

Requirements

  • A relevant banking qualification is required.
  • 1–2 years of general banking experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience handling cash transactions, reconciliations, and customer service within a banking environment.
  • Previous experience in Forex processing will be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in banking systems and transaction processing.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint).
  • Knowledge of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA) and South African Reserve Bank (SARB) regulations.
  • Ability to identify and report suspicious transactions in line with compliance requirements.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail for daily balancing and reconciliation.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and handle high-volume transactions.
  • High level of integrity and adherence to security protocols.
  • Ability to multitask and manage administrative duties effectively.
