Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Technical Estimator to join our client’s team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have strong costing experience in the FMCG and Beverage sectors and proven expertise in HVAC and refrigeration systems on a large scale. Experience with ammonia systems is not a requirement, but HVAC/refrigeration experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Estimation: Provide accurate and timely cost estimates for HVAC and refrigeration systems, focusing on large-scale installations in the FMCG and beverage industries.
• Tender Support: Assist in the preparation of tenders and provide technical costing input.
• Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to define scope, budget, and timelines.
• Cost Analysis: Analyze project costs, identify savings, and provide cost-effective solutions.
• Supplier & Vendor Management: Source materials, equipment, and services, ensuring competitive pricing and quality.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential cost and technical risks on projects.
• Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on costings, forecasts, and project budgets.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3-5 years of costing experience in the FMCG or Beverage industries.
• Proven expertise in HVAC and refrigeration systems (large-scale applications).
• Strong knowledge of cost estimation processes and techniques.
• Experience with project budgeting, cost control, and project management.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle high-pressure situations.
• Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in the ammonia refrigeration industry (not required but advantageous).
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
