Job Description


Purpose:                               The purpose of this job is to ensure the smooth running of the department. This will include overseeing all staff and the productivity of the department resulting in promoting the business therefore creating sustainable growth and profit margins.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leading and motiving a team of subordinates
  • Looking for ways to improve and ensure efficiency in the Department including follow up of work results
  • Ensuring stock losses in the Department is to a minimum
  • Having departmental meetings daily and once a month
  • Checking transfer trays regularly to ensure daily orders/transfers is going out withing 48 hours and that urgent for customer orders/transfer are transferred within 24 hours
  • Ensuring orders are up to date by comparing it with the outstanding order list
  • Ensuring standards for health and safety and customer service are met
  • Responding to all branch’s complaints and comments
  • Updating subordinates on business performance, new initiatives, and opportunities in the department
  • Touring the department floor regularly, identifying problems and compliments
  • Completing staff register on your “on Saturday”
  • Initiating changes to improve processes and the business related to area
  • Ensuring transfer errors are minimised
  • Reporting all incidents to Operations Supervisors daily
  • Performing any work – related tasks as delegated by superior
  • Participating in perpetual stock takes
  • Ensuring housekeeping of work area

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric or Equivalent
  • Brights Leadership Training
  • Brights Induction (Service Excellent)
  • 3 years exposure in DC/Warehouse operations
  • 5 years product knowledge in specific department
  • 2 years minimum experience in a similar role
  • Internal stock system
  • Internal procedural knowledge
  • Product & Stock Management knowledge
  • Monitoring of staff movements
  • Self-motivation and ability to lead others
  • Willing to take responsibility
  • Plaining, time management & organising skills
  • Ability to handle pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written) at all levels
  • Computer Literacy: Microsoft office (Internet, e-mails Word & Excel)
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to act professional and maintain confidentiality
