Job Description
The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It’s a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometers west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To manage, coordinate, control and oversee the safe and effective preparation, equipment inspections of furnace vessel, and according to production targets. The incumbent supervises specialists to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Smelting plant.
You will have the following:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering any qualification related to Metallurgical furnace engineering
• 5 years’ relevant furnace masonry experience
• At least 2+ years’ experience in a managerial position, preferably in starting up a team to be fully functional
• English as working language, Swahili or French advantageous

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:
• Manage and maintain the furnace plant to ensure safe and efficient operations of the Smelting plant
• Supervise and implement the Design, Construction & Commissioning for Smelting plant furnaces
• Ensure, organise and coordinate the timely and systematic operation of the smelt plant
• Responsible for production operations to meet the monthly and annual production targets
• Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
• Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports
• monitor costs or expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste
• Support the Transformation agenda
• Integrate HSEQ into all work processes
