Hire Resolve’s client, who offers the highest quality construction, project management and specialist subcontracting services, is searching for a Site Engineer to join their team in Cape Town.

𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: 

  • Manage site teams by assigning specific tasks and monitoring output per section of work

  • Manage subcontractors and trades on site

  • Prepare, set, and maintain project targets in line with master programmes

  • Coordinate and manage inspections with QA/QC teams

  • Arrange and lead regular site meetings, including safety committee meetings

  • Update project programmes and create short-term schedules for review by PM/CM

  • Ensure production teams are working from correct and up-to-date information

  • Technical Responsibilities:

    • Identify, raise, and resolve technical queries

    • Prepare detailed contractor reports

    • Establish, report, and close out non-conformances

    • Formulate and implement method statements for on-site tasks

    Health, Safety, and Environmental:

    • Maintain good housekeeping at all times

    • Promote and implement good health and safety practices

    • Manage waste, losses, and theft through regular checks

    Cost Control:

    • Place orders for approval by Site Agent, Contracts Manager, or Quantity Surveyor

    • Manage material control, including monitoring breakages and ensuring correct allocations

    • Assist Quantity Surveyor with instructions, ensuring timely costing and submission

𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:

Qualifications:

  • National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Building Science or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution

  • SACPCMP registration is advantageous

Experience:

  • 6–8 years’ experience in the construction industry

  • Minimum of 3 years in a senior role

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Working knowledge of CCS planning and estimating software

  • Familiar with Construction Regulations and building contracts/specifications (JBCC/NEC)

  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills

  • Effective team leadership and collaboration abilities

  • Dedicated and hardworking work ethic

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications

  • Solid understanding of construction materials and building practices

  • Competent in budgeting and cost control

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills
