SHE Officer
Job Description
The SHE Officer ensures workplace safety is upheld in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 by conducting hazard assessments, implementing preventative measures, and maintaining a safe working environment.
- You must hold a Matric or NQF level 4 equivalent,
- A recognised Health and Safety qualification, and have
- A minimum of 5 years of SHE experience.
- Preference will be given to applicants with Pharma or FMCG experience, particularly within GMP environments.
- Key competencies include strong report-writing abilities, computer literacy, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, alongside the capability to take initiative, work under pressure, and maintain effective organization.
- Ideally, you are a self-motivated team player who can suggest and implement improvements.
The role encompasses maintaining compliance with occupational safety legislation, facilitating incident investigations, coordinating emergency procedures, managing PPE requirements, conducting training sessions, and monitoring risks through HIRA assessments.
You ensure waste management plans are developed, contractors comply with safety regulations, and fire and first aid equipment are inspected regularly.
Furthermore, you will liaise with HR for training needs, process IOD claims, and produce comprehensive safety reports.
Proficiency in managing HSE permits, maintaining records, and chairing safety committee meetings is essential for driving safety initiatives and fostering a workplace health and safety culture.
