Ivanplats is looking for a Shaft Sinking Planner X 1 REF:IVP-SSP-2501

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to   develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • BSc/BEng in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Proficiency in mine design and scheduling software (e.g., Deswik, AutoCAD)
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Blasting Certificate advantageous
  • ECSA registration preferred but not mandatory
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of shaft sinking methodologies and lining processes
  • Understanding of mine planning and scheduling principles
  • Familiarity with relevant mining legislation and safety requirements

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years’ mine planning experience, including shaft sinking or major underground infrastructure projects
  • Experience in developing and managing project schedules

Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Ensure all plans comply with Mine Health and Safety Act and incorporate safe working practices
  • Develop short- and medium-term shaft sinking and lining schedules
  • Use mine design software to prepare practical and efficient plans
  • Liaise with shaft sinking, engineering, survey, and geology teams to integrate planning requirements
  • Track actual progress against plans, identify deviations, and propose corrective actions
  • Produce progress reports for management and identify process improvement opportunities
