Job Description
KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Senior Superintendent I, Mine Planning
The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It’s a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To provide Kamoa Copper SA [KCSA] with best practice advice to ensure extraction of ore in the most effective and efficient manner to achieve the Mining strategic objectives in a safe way
You will have the following:
- Must have a degree in Mining Engineering
- A master’s degree qualification is an added advantage
- Must have at least 15 years’ experience in mine planning
- Must have at least 10 years underground mining experience
- Must have at least 8 years managing a team of mine planning engineers and mine production engineers(drill and blast engineers)
- Must have advanced skills working with the Deswik
Role Specific Knowledge Skills:
- DRC legislation

- Basic understanding Rock Engineering and Ventilation
- Geology and sampling knowledge
- Competent in mine financial systems and related legislation
- Advanced Computer literacy for role – MS Office Software

- Advanced Deswik

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:
- Process: Implement practices and coordinate resources to ensure best practice Mine Planning for KCSA
- Implement effective and efficient Mine Planning structures, policies, plans and governance structures
- Manage and oversee Contractors and service providers
- Drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement
- Function as a Mine Planning subject matter expert
- Stakeholder Management -Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
- People Management – Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports
- Finance – Monitor costs or expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste
- Manage Transformation and enable seamless Change and Cultural integration
- HSEQ- Integrate HSEQ into all work processes
