Senior Data Engineer

Are you a data engineer passionate about designing and building scalable ETL systems for big data warehouses? Join our client in the retail industry to create robust data solutions that support machine learning algorithms, predictive models, and real-time data visualisation across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and completeness through thorough review and testing.
• Conduct data design, database architecture, and repository creation activities.
• Translate business needs into scalable and long-term architecture solutions.
• Define, design, and build dimensional databases.
• Design and implement ETL pipelines within set timelines.
• Develop data warehousing blueprints and integrate hardware and software platforms.
• Ensure consistent data sources resulting in a single version of the truth.
• Deliver standardised data marts for reporting and analysis, accompanied by comprehensive documentation.
• Translate metadata into explanatory reports and visualisations for end users.

Experience and qualifications:

• IT-related degree (postgraduate qualification advantageous).
• Five to ten years of experience in designing and developing data warehouses using the Kimball methodology.
• Proficient in ETL design and development, SQL (preferably SAS Data Studio), and AWS.
• Familiarity with flat file types like CSV and JSON.
• Proficient in Python or R (or willingness to learn).
• Experience in retail, financial services, or logistics environments.
• Knowledge of emerging trends in big data, machine learning, AI, and analytics.
