Senior Civil Design Engineer – Krugersdorp, GP

A well-established and respected consulting engineering firm with a strong footprint in infrastructure and civil works projects, is currently seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their team in Krugersdorp. This is a strategic hire aimed at bolstering the company’s high-caliber design leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineering staff.

• Sign off designs and drawings as the responsible Professional Engineer.

• Engage directly with clients on feasibility studies, project scoping, and planning.

• Lead and coordinate the execution of engineering design reviews.

• Ensure all work complies with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), policies, and industry standards.

• Champion employee engagement through recognition, empowerment, and supportive feedback.

• Develop and standardize design tools, software, codes, and practices across projects.

• Assign and monitor work progress within design teams to maintain quality and timelines.

• Collaborate with contractors and construction monitoring teams during project execution phases.

• Manage technical deliverables such as reports, cost estimates, contract documentation, specifications, and manuals.

• Attend site inspections and meetings as necessary.

• Participate in business planning, contract negotiations, and training initiatives.

• Promote ethical engineering practices and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.Eng or B.Sc. Eng).

• Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng).

• Minimum 15 years of experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.

• Expertise in infrastructure-related design and planning.

• Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., GCC, FIDIC, NEC, JBCC).

• Proven experience managing large, multidisciplinary design teams.

• Advanced project management, analytical, and leadership skills.

• Proficient in MS Office and engineering software tools.

• Excellent communication and technical report writing abilities.

• Comprehensive understanding of South African construction regulations and environmental legislation.
