Salary: Market-related
Working Hours: 08h00 – 17h00 (subject to change due to operational demands)
Contract Type: Permanent (6-month probation period)
Job Purpose
The company is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Seafood Buyer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing quality seafood products, negotiating favorable terms, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and ensuring accurate procurement reporting. This role demands a deep understanding of the seafood market, excellent stakeholder communication, and strong business insight.
Minimum Requirements

Matric or equivalent (required)
-
Minimum 3 years of experience in buying, sourcing, supplier management, and order management
-
Proven knowledge of the local and Namibian seafood market, seafood suppliers, industry standards, and quality control (advantageous)

Additional certifications in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Logistics (advantageous)

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with SAP Business One or similar ERP systems is an advantage

Key Responsibilities
1. Sourcing of Goods
-
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers while maintaining strong relationships with current ones

Conduct ongoing market research on pricing, seasonal trends, and regulatory developments

Develop sourcing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and lead times
-
Manage inventory levels relative to forecasts and stock requirements
-
Coordinate procurement transactions between suppliers, logistics, operations, sales, QA, and finance
-
Explore opportunities to expand the company’s product offering
2. Negotiation
-
Negotiate pricing, terms, and service agreements with suppliers
-
Ensure contracts are compliant with internal policies
-
Resolve supplier issues related to quality, pricing, or service delivery, securing favorable outcomes for the business
3. Supplier Relations

Maintain and build relationships with seafood suppliers
-
Provide forecasts and monitor supplier performance where applicable
-
Collaborate with senior management and sales on category planning and new product opportunities
-
Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive improvements
-
Promote compliance with quality and sustainability standards
4. Reporting
-
Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier performance, and pricing
-
Provide regular procurement activity reports to senior management
-
Analyze market intelligence and generate insights or recommendations for strategic decision-making
-
Proactively identify and escalate risks or obstacles
