A vacancy currently exists for a Registered Nurse – Neonatal ICU (Trained), reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will form part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, committed to delivering high-quality, holistic nursing care to neonates in a specialised intensive care setting.
Key Responsibilities
Efficient resource and clinical care management:
- Minimise avoidable stock wastage and support the proper functioning and maintenance of medical equipment.
- Deliver safe, quality patient care in accordance with clinical standards and hospital policies.
- Support department-specific staff orientation and continuous development initiatives.
- Conduct daily care rounds and follow up on any patient or family concerns promptly.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients’ families, ensuring they are well-informed throughout the hospital stay.
Risk and quality assurance:
- Implement and monitor infection prevention measures in line with SHEQ and clinical protocols.
- Identify and manage risks proactively to maintain a safe and compliant care environment.
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
- Understand and accommodate doctor preferences and stakeholder needs to improve care delivery and patient outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or a Comprehensive Nursing qualification (D4)
- Post-basic qualification in Neonatal Nursing or Advanced Midwifery
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Neonatal ICU within a private healthcare setting
- Computer literacy and familiarity with hospital information systems
