Product Owner
Job Description
ENVIRONMENT:
Join a development firm dedicated to pioneering innovative agricultural technologies, where intricate design intersects with inventive creativity. They are currently seeking a Product Owner who will be will be responsible for driving and owning the development and execution of product vision and strategies to their platform and goals and customer needs. You will oversee the entire product lifecycle, from product discovery through to launch, and beyond, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market demands. The primary purpose of this role is to own and drive product success by collaborating with their single thread cross-functional teams, prioritising product deliverables, and crafting exceptional user experiences.
DUTIES:
- Determine the value risk associated with the 4 key risks around product development
- Value risk (whether customers will buy it, or users will choose to use it)
- Usability risk (whether users can figure out how to use it)
- Feasibility risk (whether they engineers can build what they need with the time, skills and technology they have)
- Business viability risk (whether this solution also works for the various aspects of their business)
- Develop and execute product strategy in alignment with company and platform strategies.
- Conduct product discovery and gather feedback from customers to identify opportunities and prioritise features.
- Formulate product roadmap and product problems and prioritise features based on business impact and customer value.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, data engineering and marketing teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Create and maintain product documentation, including user stories, specifications, and release plans.
- Analyse product metrics and user feedback to iterate and improve product performance.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitor offerings to inform product decisions.
- Act as a product evangelist by effectively communicating product vision, value proposition, and updates to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Lead cross-functional teams through the product development process, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Manage product launches and post-launch activities, including marketing campaigns and user training.
REQUIREMENTS:
Formal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, computer science, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in product management, preferably in the technology or software industry.
- Demonstrated success in launching and managing products from concept to delivery.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
- Proven ability to drive results and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with design thinking principles and UX/UI best practices is a plus.
- Experience with B2B or SaaS products is desirable but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Proven track record of product management in a fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of product methodologies and product management best practices.
- Ability to translate customer problems into product requirements.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Jira, Trello, or Asana.
- Technical aptitude to understand complex systems and technologies.
- Strategic thinking and ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Data-driven decision-making and proficiency in analytics tools like Google Analytics or Mixpanel.
- Leadership and team-building skills to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers and designers for implementation of designs
- Excellent communication (presentation and interpersonal skills)
- Proven product experience through a comprehensive portfolio of product delivery
- Abreast of the latest UI/UX trends, techniques, and technologies
