Product Development Assistant – Modderfontein
Job Description
About the Role:
We are looking for a highly organized Product Development Assistant to join our product sourcing and development function. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented who can manage product-related admin, coordinate with suppliers, and assist in developing new toy products and brands from concept to market.
As part of a rapidly growing toy company, you’ll be working with suppliers, factories, and brands from around the world, gaining hands-on experience in global sourcing and product development. You’ll also engage with some of the biggest retailers in South Africa and internationally, giving you unique exposure to the industry at a high level. This is a rare chance to step into a fast-moving business where you’ll gain a wide range of experience and opportunities in a short time.
Key Responsibilities
• Attend sales meetings to understand client needs.
• Communicate with suppliers to request catalogues, quotations and samples.
• Do competitor analysis, product analysis and cost analysis.
• Work with in-house graphic designer to develop packaging and do product customizations.
• Communicate final product and packaging details to suppliers.
• Pitch newly developed products to distributors and retail buyers.
• Guide and support the sales team to ensure strong market adoption and sell-through.
• Monitor product performance post-launch and provide feedback for improvements, implementing future product changes.
Key Skills & Requirements
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to handle admin-heavy tasks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
• Some sales or business development awareness is beneficial.
• Previous experience in product sourcing or procurement is beneficial
