Procurement Officer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Procurement Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will support the operational activities of the Maintenance Department at our Saldanha operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Awarding orders for maintenance work in collaboration with maintenance teams.
- Analyzing and comparing technical quotes.
- Negotiating pricing based on quotes and completed work.
- Enforcing penalties as per agreed terms.
- Analyzing spend to enhance sourcing processes for quality and cost efficiency.
- Sourcing from suppliers aligned with Preferential Procurement targets.
- Managing outstanding orders and resolving account queries.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current market prices for required items.
Requirements
- A Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Purchasing Management (technical qualifications advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a buyer role within a related industry.
- Familiarity with import terms and conditions.
- Strong conflict management and negotiation skills.
- Experience in supplier relationship management and contract negotiations.
- Superior customer service and administrative skills.
- Excellent analytical abilities, decision-making, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
- Ability to engage effectively with all levels of management and suppliers.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Preference will be given to Employment Equity (EE) candidates.
