Responsibilities

  • Process weekly employee remuneration with accuracy and timeliness

  • Administer payroll for a workforce of 150+ employees

  • Maintain and update payroll and attendance records

  • Calculate earnings, overtime, bonuses, and statutory deductions

  • Administer and troubleshoot time and attendance systems

  • Verify hours worked and manage pay adjustments

  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee queries

  • Administer injury-on-duty claims

  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, labour legislation, and internal policies

  • Liaise with department heads on new hires, terminations, and employee changes

  • Prepare payroll reports for management and auditors

  • Assist with year-end procedures, including issuing IRP5s

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data

  • Work efficiently under strict deadlines, especially during payroll cycles and reporting periods

  • Assist the Financial Controller with record keeping, document management, and filing

HR-Related Duties

  • Support onboarding by capturing new employee data accurately

  • Update and maintain employee records on payroll and time & attendance systems

  • Monitor leave balances and absenteeism trends

  • Collaborate with HR to ensure alignment between payroll and employee contracts

  • Assist with HR audits and reporting

  • Provide input on payroll-related policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • Relevant qualification in HR or associated with payroll; Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred

  • 3–5 years of experience in payroll administration

  • Proven experience managing payroll for 150+ employees

  • Proficient in PaySpace payroll software, MS Excel, and Word

  • Experience with time and attendance systems (Kronos, ERS Bio, S-Cubed)

  • Experience with reconciliation and payroll reporting for audits and management

  • Knowledge of tax compliance, UIF, SDL, and other statutory contributions

  • Familiarity with year-end payroll processes (IRP5s, etc.)

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced or high-volume payroll environment
