Our client is a long-standing independent creative agency with a track record of ‘work that works’ – a broad range of creative services for large and medium-sized businesses that deliver on their marketing plans. They are now looking for a dynamic Business Development ‘Hunter’ to join their team and help them expand their footprint in the South African market, adding to their existing portfolio of clients.

Whilst one-off projects are a valuable way to prove their capabilities to new clients, their approach is typically consultative – they listen to the challenges and adapt their offering to suit. Trust and longevity of relationships are important to them in building their role as a true strategic partner.

Role overview:

Your primary responsibility will be to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities for the agency. You will play a crucial role in driving the growth of their client base by leveraging your connections, strategic insight and tenacity to bring in new accounts.

Responsibilities and requirements:

  • Networking, researching, and building a pipeline of new prospects
  • Propose and implement ideas and strategies to achieve revenue and growth
  • Working with internal specialists to develop outbound lead generation campaigns and build compelling content to attract prospective clients
  • Managing prospect relationships and being an ambassador for the agency

Skills

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a NBD role, in an advertising agency environment
  • Advanced negotiation, communication, writing and organisational skills
  • Facilitation, team motivation and team leadership management
  • A proven history of managing revenue targets and forecasts
  • Solid attention to detail
  • Successful management of complex engagements in a team environment.
  • Excellent corporate and agency contacts

About you:

  • You have experience working in creative and marketing communications environments
  • An existing network of relevant contacts within the business community
  • You are personable, naturally curious, and interested in striking up new conversations with new people, hunting out problems can be solved, and opening doors to actively drive a pipeline
  • Good communication and presentation skills with an understanding of the creative process and the commercial aspects of the industry
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Flexibility – able to travel and meet people as needed.

What you get in return:

  • A fair basic salary and attractive commissions based on warm leads generated and business secured
  • Travel and prospecting expenses covered
  • A balanced contractual arrangement to suit your circumstances and our needs
  • Collaboration from day 1 – you will love our people and the values we live and breathe
  • Autonomy to excel.
