Job Description
KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Managerial Leader I Safety, Health and Risk
The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It’s a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometers west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To champion and drive Safety, Health and Risk strategies and programmes by establishing and implementing:
1.an enterprise-wide Governance and Risk Framework that will enable Kamoa’s executive team to execute their oversight and governance responsibilities.
2.Safety, Health and risk policies, standards, practices, and systems, within the broader realm of the organisation’s sustainability strategy.
In addition, the incumbent ensures that the company complies to applicable regulations, and that alignment is achieved with reporting requirements for both international and local standards in the jurisdictions that the company operates.
You will have the following:
- Must have a completed diploma/ degree in Safety, Risk or equivalent (SHEQ / Risk Management) or Engineering or Mining
- Must have at least 15 years relevant experience within a mining/concentrate production/engineering safety environment
- Must have at least 5 years at a senior managerial level overseeing Safety, health and Risk for large scale mining operations
- Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered highly advantageous.

- In-depth working knowledge of all relevant Safety legislation
- A good understanding of mining (surface and underground), engineering, smelter and process operations
- Knowledge of work-related hazards and associated risk
- Understanding health services and emergency services
