Job Description


Main Purpose of the Job
To Lead the electronic technologist’s team to technically define, quantify and solve Booyco engineering design problems; to Implement and supervise the drafting of technical specifications, standards and technical supporting documentation.

Education, experience and competencies

  • BSc Engineering or equivalent Electronic Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in supervisory role
  • Experience in the manufacturing and/or mining industry (advantage)
  • Experience in design, layout and assembly of PCB’s
  • Experience in software development (advantage)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate priorities, work assignments for technologists and technicians 
  • Design according to specifications given – Looms, cables, PCBs or complete product
  • Review and update technical documentation as per ISO standards
  • Supervise and attend to RMA reported issues
  • Supervise the implementation of first builds with the IE                  
  • Coordinate priorities/work assignments for technologists and technicians  
  • Maintain feedback data and information as required for MANCO feedback.  
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Provide feedback to line manager on monthly performance vs targets by the specified dates
  • Ensure the production and product support teams are supplied with all reports, technical documentation, drawings, and other data as required.
  • Reasonable for all technical aspects for product integration & improvement and develop product knowledge.
  • Ensure technical documents are maintained and drawings are reviewed and up to date.
  • Technically defining, quantifying and solving engineering design problems
  • Drafting specifications, standards and technical supporting documentation 
  • Testing and verifying new hardware and software specifications
  • Advanced technical knowledge of electronics, engineering processes and the mining standards
  • Reading and interpreting panel wiring diagrams and set layouts will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of engineering draughting practises and recording of original, marked up and final drawings
  • Knowledge of training and supervisory techniques and employee policies and procedures
