Junior Support Engineer (Northern Cape)
Job Description
ENVIRONMENT:
ASSIST with 1st Line Support of end user computing while carrying out preventative maintenance as the next Junior Support Engineer sought by a dynamic Internet Service & Network Specialist. Applicants must be willing to live and work in a remote part of the Northern Cape. You must have Matric/Grade 12 (Non-negotiable), a suitable IT-related tertiary qualification with 2+ years’ work experience providing end user computing support. You must be medically fit and have a valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.
DUTIES:
- Assist with 1st Line Support of end user computing.
- Provide 1st Line datacentre software support.
- Preventative maintenance (Patch Management).
- Remediate issues identified by audit and monthly reporting.
- Change Management.
- Morning Checks: Perform all checks, log service requests, compile reports and submit reports to management.
- Compile operability reports.
- Review automated reports and log service requests for remedial work.
- Implement projects in line with planning and architecture.
- Document implementations and provide SOPs.

Session Virtualisation: MS Remote Desktop Services, Citrix VDA

Operating Systems: All Microsoft & Linux
MS infrastructure: Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, SCCM
Backups: Veeam, Backup Exec
Monitoring: N-Central, SCOM, PRTG, WhatsApp, SolarWinds, Nagios, Quest
Antivirus: McAfee, ESET, Symantec, Kaspersky, MS Endpoint protection
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
- Matric Grade 12 (Must-have).
- Tertiary IT qualification.
- One of: MCP, VCP, CCP, A+.
Experience/Skills –
- At least 2 + years’ experience providing end user computing support.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.
- Medically fit due to the environment.
