Step Into a Role That Makes an Impact! We’re seeking a HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER for a fixed term contract to drive success at Indigo Brands in Epping, Cape Town. In this role we seek to attract an emotionally mature, self-managed, organized and driven individual who enjoys new and diverse challenges.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to: Human Resources Manager
Key Areas of Impact:
- Provide support and advice on the interpretation and understanding of Human Resources (HR) policies and procedures to management and staff.
- Ensure all HR audit requirements are adhered to.
- Provide Auditors with necessary files and documentation.
- Manage all administration related to the employee life cycle and verifies all employee changes, leave approvals and short-time before uploading of payroll onto SAP.
- Process engagements and terminations of employees.
- Update organograms on a monthly and quarterly basis with all relevant changes when relevant.
- Provide assistance and guidance to Line Managers with regards to performance management, disciplinary procedures and other Industrial Relations (IR) matters, recruitment, training and staff wellness matters.
- Prepare the required HR reports including staff movements, IR activities, headcounts and employment costs, absenteeism, Employee Wellness Portal (ICAS) referrals and more.
- Process monthly payroll variance reports and resolve any discrepancies.
- Assist with submission of Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) to Head Office.
- Assist with the preparation, completion and submission of Employment Equity Plan if necessary.
- Investigate “Be heard”, Ethics and Compliance Anonymous reports and provide feedback to the business after discussing it with the HR Manager.
- Track training initiatives against the Annual Training Plan received and provide feedback to the HR Manager.
- Facilitate training programmes as required including new employee induction and performance management training.
- Schedule training that fits with the business cycles and production planning and work with line management to ensure business continuity.
- Play an intermediary role between HR and line management regarding the requirement and recruitment of Fixed Term Contractors.
- Manage the benefit claim process ensuring forms are completed correctly.
- Manage notifications of engagements and terminations with the relevant stakeholders and departments.
- Provide advice on poor performers to Line Managers and oversee the process.
- Provide parties timeously with the relevant and accurate HR documentation concerning performance management and appraisals.
- Coordinate and set up union and shop steward meetings, take minutes and distribute minutes after meetings
- Ensure disciplinary and grievances are dealt with in accordance to company policies and consult with HR Manager with regards to charges.
- Assist with CCMA cases by collecting and analysing information and represent the company at CCMA for worksite related disputes.
- Ensures a fair and consistent recruitment practice that is aligned to the EE Act.
- Develops and ensures an effective induction process is implemented for new recruits.
- Ensure the recruitment process is understood and approvals and requisition processes are done on SAP.
- Handle the on-boarding process of successful candidates.
- Provide input when setting up the Employee Wellness plan, including the ongoing communication of the ICAS offering.
- Participate in planning and coordinating staff events like canteen committee.
What It Takes to Succeed:
Experience that set you up for success:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a HR Officer role gained in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Experience working in a unionised environment essential
- Knowledge of relevant labour legislation (i.e. Basic Conditions of Employment, Labour Relations, Skills Development, EE Act /BB-BEE)
- Sound knowledge of disciplinary processes and CCMA exposure
Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- A completed Degree or Diploma in HR, Industrial Relations or Industrial Psychology or equivalent is required
Additional Requirements that will enhance your impact for success:
- SAP or related ERP system experience required
