Health, Safety & Environmental Officer
Job Description
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in a manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities include maintaining site safety through inspections, conducting risk assessments, managing incident investigations, and overseeing the Health and Safety Management System.
A Tertiary Diploma related to Chemical Engineering, Engineering Field, Heavy Manufacturing, or Environmental Engineering is an essential requirement.
SAMTRAC certification is essential. (Non-negotiable)
Additional qualifications, such as HIRA, Incident Investigation, and ISO 14001 training, are advantageous.
The role requires a minumum of three years of post-graduation experience in a heavy duty manufacturing environment, particulary in a petro-chemical or fuel processing plant.
Strong communication skills, Microsoft Office proficiency, and Isometrix knowledge are essential. High ethical standards, teamwork, and reliability are also crucial attributes
You will ensure adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, coordinate safety training, manage PPE issuance, and ensure contractor compliance. In addition, you will organise safety committee meetings and conduct regular safety observations.
Environmental duties include managing the Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001, conducting audits, coordinating environmental monitoring, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. You will also oversee environmental projects, participate in external audits, generate EMS reports, and conduct risk assessments.
