Cyrus Management Trust – Health & Safety Officer (CHSO – SACPCMP)
Job Description
A well-established civil engineering group operating multiple concurrent sites around Cape Town, is currently seeking a Health and Safety Officer based in Cape Town (CPT).
Responsibilities
-
Develop and implement Health & Safety (H&S) management systems for the group of companies, in alignment with ISO management system requirements.

Generate Health & Safety Files for contract works.

Conduct risk assessments for contract and emergency works and design/control mitigation measures.

Investigate all incidents and accidents; report findings in an advisory role to the Compliance Manager.

Liaise with Clients, Principal Contractors, Sub-contractors etc. to ensure full compliance with H&S standards.

Perform compliance audits of contractors, site conditions and H&S systems.

Lead H&S Committee meetings across all sites to address all health & safety related matters.

Conduct site inspections using online platforms; action any findings appropriately.

Compile and maintain all required H&S documentation, including:

Site-specific Safety Plans
-
Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments
-
Fall Protection Plans
-
Method Statements
-
Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs)
-
Emergency Preparedness Instructions
-
Any other required documents.

Identify training requirements and scarce skills within the workforce; conduct internal training where needed.
Requirements
-
Extended, current knowledge of health & safety legislation and related Acts.

Relevant qualification in H&S or related field.

SACPCMP CHSO registration.
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a civil engineering environment, managing multiple sites in different locations.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

High professional standard, reliability and the ability to work both physically on sites and administratively.
