The Role:

If you live and breathe ideas, we want to talk to you. We are looking for a senior copywriter to join our team and lead the voice of the brand in the future. Deliver interesting ideas with solid storytelling and translate this into copy across all platforms for one of South Africa’s most innovative businesses. Optimise our communication across all digital and social media channels with the goal to deliver a world-class digital customer experience for our rapidly growing subscriber base.

You should also have a strong grasp of current marketing tools and strategies and be able to lead integrated marketing campaigns from concept to execution. The role will work closely with the marketing team, supporting teams (such as the tech team), and product partners to launch campaigns on time and on budget.

Key Role & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the creative team to develop and execute innovative and impactful copy for various digital and retail marketing campaigns.
  • Write persuasive, engaging, and high-quality copy for product descriptions, advertising campaigns, email marketing, social media, and other digital and retail platforms.
  • Develop and maintain the company’s brand voice and tone, ensuring consistency across all channels.
  • Ensure that all copy is aligned with the company’s messaging, branding, and marketing objectives.
  • Conduct research and analyse industry trends to stay up to date with emerging technologies, best practices, and consumer behaviour.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to tight deadlines and budgets.
  • Work closely with the design team to develop creative concepts that effectively convey the intended message.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation, including marketing, sales, and product development teams, to ensure all copy is accurate, relevant, and meets the needs of the intended audience.
  • Build and manage a small copywriting team.

Ideal:

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven work experience in digital marketing
  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Experience in optimising landing pages and user funnels
  • Experience with A/B and multivariate experiments
  • Working knowledge of ad-serving tools
  • Some experience in setting up Google AdWords campaigns
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement
  • Excellent communication skills (speaking and writing)
  • Highly motivated and energetic, along with a ‘self-starter’ attitude
  • Must be able to thrive in a high-pressure environment
  • Working knowledge and usage of Google Workspace, Slack, Zendesk, Atlassian, Google Ads, Facebook ads, Twitter, Tik-Tok
  • Tech Obsessed

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field would be an advantage.
  • At least 3 years of experience in copywriting, with a strong emphasis on digital and retail marketing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience working in Marketing or an agency..
  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling and engaging copy that drives results.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience in writing for SEO
  • Familiarity with various digital and retail marketing channels, including social media, email marketing, display advertising, and e-commerce platforms.
  • Experience with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics to measure the effectiveness of copy.
  • A strong portfolio of work showcasing your ability to write copy for various digital and retail marketing campaigns.
