Commercial Underwriter
Job Description
Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a detail-oriented and focused individual to join our Commercial Insurance division as an Underwriter. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, underwriting expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service. This role involves underwriting, claims handling, and client interactions to ensure effective risk assessment and policy management.
Responsibilities:
Underwriting:
- Assess and underwrite commercial and personal insurance policies.
- Provide quotations for new business opportunities.
- Process amendments and endorsements on existing policies.
- Assist with policy renewals, including pre-renewal discussions and negotiations.
- Instruct insurers to renew policies and ensure all documentation is prepared.
- Review loss ratios and adjust motor values to current market standards.
- Prepare pre-renewal and renewal comparisons for client presentations.
- Maintain accurate records by capturing amendments and renewals in the system.
- Draft and send relevant correspondence and supporting documents to clients.
Claims Management:
- Assist with processing insurance claims across all policy types.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is received and accurately recorded.
- Capture claims details in the system and maintain a shared claims file.
- Follow up on claims progress and liaise with insurers on service provider appointments.
- Manage claims from initiation to finalization.
Requirements:
- Matric qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience within the insurance brokerage industry.
- Strong underwriting knowledge; marine insurance experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with exchange control regulations is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Regulatory Examination (RE5) certification required.
