Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Job Description
ENVIRONMENT:
A strategic & critical-thinking Chief Information Officer is sought by a reputable Financial Services Provider to develop and implement the overall IT strategy while ensuring technology initiatives support and enhance the overall business strategy. The successful incumbent must have Grade 12/Matric, a BSc/BA in Computer Science or related field with ±5 Years as a CIO with strategic alignment, 5 years in IT and 3 years of leadership and managerial skills including Advanced Excel.
DUTIES:
IT Strategy –
- Develop and implement the overall IT strategy aligned with the organization’s business goals.
- Ensure that technology initiatives support and enhance the overall business strategy.
Information Security –
- Oversee the development and implementation of strategies to protect the organization’s information assets. This includes Cybersecurity measures, data privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
IT Governance –
- Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure that IT practices align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Provide guidance on IT governance to support overall corporate governance.
Digital Transformation –
- Lead efforts to leverage technology for digital transformation. Identify opportunities to use technology to improve business processes, enhance customer experiences, and drive innovation.
User Support and Training –
- Ensure that end-users receive adequate support and training to effectively use IT systems.
- Address user concerns and feedback to improve the overall user experience.
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery –
- Develop and maintain plans to ensure business continuity in the event of IT disruptions or disasters.
- Implement strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
- Grade 12 or similar qualification is essential.
- BSc/BA in Computer Science or related field.
Experience/Skills –
- ±5 Years as a CIO with strategic alignment.
- Minimum 5 years IT work experience required.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership and managerial skills.
- Computer literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel at an Advanced level.
Advantageous –
- Fluent and proficient in English, additional language(s).
