About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Change Control Manager to drive strategic change and user adoption. You’ll play a critical role in guiding stakeholders through the transformation process, ensuring successful integration of smart classroom technologies and enhancing the learning experience across key academic venues.
This role is ideally suited to someone who understands both the cultural dynamics of academia and the operational complexities of tech-led implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
👥 Stakeholder Engagement

Identify, assess, and document expectations, concerns, and potential resistance among academic, student, and technical communities.

Act as the liaison between stakeholder groups and project leadership to ensure feedback informs change strategies.
🛠 Change Planning & Control

Design and implement a structured change control plan aligned with a waterfall project delivery framework.

Manage formal change request workflows including evaluation, approval, tracking, and implementation processes.

Maintain a detailed and auditable change log to ensure transparency and accountability.
📊 Gap Analysis

Conduct readiness and expectation assessments to uncover misalignments across stakeholder groups.

Recommend tailored interventions to bridge gaps and enhance user alignment with project goals.
📚 Training & Capacity Building

Partner with faculties and technical leads to develop targeted training programs.

Roll out readiness initiatives and support the development of user documentation and procedural guides.
🗣 Communication & Reporting

Create engaging change communications such as FAQs, newsletters, updates, and stakeholder briefings.

Deliver structured reports to the Project Manager and Sponsor, highlighting adoption rates, concerns, and progress metrics.
⚠️ Risk & Issue Management

Proactively monitor for resistance and adoption-related risks.

Design and implement mitigation plans to manage disruptions and enhance engagement.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Change Management, ICT, Educational Technology, Project Management, or a related discipline.

At least 5 years’ experience managing change initiatives within large-scale, technology-driven projects.

Deep familiarity with academic institutions and higher education culture is highly preferred.

Strong grounding in formal change management frameworks (e.g., ADKAR, Kotter, Prosci).

Demonstrated experience running stakeholder workshops, training programs, and focus groups.

Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

Recognised certification in Change Management (Prosci, APMG, or equivalent).

Experience working with smart learning technologies, digital education platforms, or 4IR tools.

Understanding of South African higher education regulations and governance is an advantage.
