Accounting Clerk
Job Description
Hire Resolve is seeking an Accounting Clerk to support various finance functions across multiple business areas. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax compliance, and administrative support.
Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Accounting
- Perform general bookkeeping and accounting tasks, including journal entries, general ledger management, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare schedules (accruals, cross-charges, etc.) for monthly management accounts.
- Process invoice payments and manage creditors’ age analysis for local and foreign entities.
- Review and analyze supplier invoices for accuracy and correct expense allocation.
- Manage travel advances, travel expenses, and directors’ expense reports.
- Generate invoices per engagement agreements and maintain debtors’ age analysis.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, including depreciation, acquisitions, and disposals.
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, annual budgets, and audits.
- Contribute to weekly cash flow forecasting.
- Post payroll journals and perform reconciliations.
- Complete EMP501 reconciliations and submissions.
- Support the Finance Specialist with various ad hoc tasks.
General Administration
- Assist HR with payroll processing and reconciliation.
- Support legal teams with maintaining records, filings, and important documents.
- Manage engagement letters and filing systems.
Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT201 returns.
- Complete and submit EMP201 and EMP501 filings.
- Maintain share registers and schedules.
- Ensure CIPC registration compliance.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 qualification.
- NDip/Degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in payroll administration, payments, and general ledger functions.
- Solid knowledge of statutory requirements, including PAYE, UIF, SDL, and COIDA.
- Proficiency in Excel (Advanced).
- Experience with SageOne Accounting or Xero.
