THINK requires a District Coordinator to be based at Groblersdal, Limpopo. The District Coordinator will provide clinical technical expertise and mentorship to THINK and District and facility staff in the development and implementation of interventions and strategies that will improve patient Tuberculosis (TB) outcomes. The successful candidate will oversee, manage, and coordinate various initiatives and activities within the district, ensuring that programs run smoothly, resources are utilised efficiently, and the district’s objectives are met.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Supervise and lead the Professional Nurse Mentors, Professional Nurses; NIMDR Nurses, and program staff based at DOH facilities.
  • Support technical aspects of the Program, including TB Mortality Audits; Cohort Reviews and Clinical Audits.
  • Work in close collaboration with THINK and DOH staff to support finding people with undiagnosed TB through activities including TB screening, FAST, TUTT and LF-LAM implementation.
  • Work in close collaboration with the THINK and DOH staff to implement an effective TPT Program.
  • Support the Decentralisation of DR-TB treatment to all sub-districts.
  • Oversee the implementation of the DR-TB and DS-TB linkages to care, adherence support and household contact tracing across the districts.
  • Support other project management activities as the needs of the project evolve.
  • Work with District Management in the writing of reports.
  • Establish and implement reporting systems for program staff and follow up on reports.
  • Review of facility-level reports from the DQM with the M&E manager/ coordinator.
  • Co-ordinate and lead regular staff meetings with program staff.
  • Work closely with M&E Coordinator to ensure output targets are reached and address issues.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders including the District DoH TB Management teams, facility management and community structures in the implementation and feedback of THINK project.
  • Coordinate and participate in community engagement events.
  • Conduct training for THINK and DOH staff as required.
  • Participate or represent the project in conferences. 
  • Support, train and mentor programme staff based at supported DOH facilities.
  • Provide direct supervision to all subordinates.
  • Ensure THINK vision, mission and values are reflected in all job outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing or a related health discipline.
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • 3-5 years of experience as a project manager in the health field, preferably with direct involvement in community or district health projects.
  • Primary Health Care (PHC) experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in donor funded health projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in health project management software tools and reporting systems.
  • Ability to understand and navigate the health regulatory environment of the district.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and understanding their unique health needs.
  • Familiarity with TB, HIV/AIDS, or other major health programs in the district.
  • Skills in data analysis and interpretation using health analytics tools.
  • Problem-solving approach with a focus on healthcare solutions.
  • Strong leadership qualities with an emphasis on motivating and inspiring teams.
