Our client is a progressive engineering firm specialising in construction, consulting, and independent power producer (IPP) services. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced junior sales engineer to join our client’s dynamic team. This role involves applying technical expertise to drive sales and marketing initiatives in the construction, consulting, and IPP sectors within the South African market. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of the industry, and a proven track record of sales success.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify and qualify potential leads through research, networking, and outreach.
- Develop targeted sales pitches and presentations to effectively communicate the company’s value proposition.
- Promote and sell equipment, products, and solutions using technical knowledge and commercial experience.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their needs and anticipating future requirements.
- Identify new business opportunities, negotiate contracts, and review sales performance.
- Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor enquiries, quotations, orders, projects, and deliveries.
- Stay informed about the latest industry developments and share this knowledge.
- Represent the technical aspects of products and solutions, demonstrating their benefits to customers.
- Collaborate with design, production, engineering, and R&D departments to tailor products and services to customer needs.
- Expand sales territories and conceptualise strategies to market products and deliver superior customer experiences.
- Track sales performance to determine the extent of marketing support required.
- Conduct market research on competition products.
- Identify new sales and marketing channels and technologies.
Requirements:
- Open to graduates of technical disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).
- Four or more years of sales-related experience in a technical or engineering environment.
- Experience selling electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation equipment to mines, municipalities, and construction companies.
- Fluent in spoken and written English; French is an advantage.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, set priorities, work independently and in a team, and perform under pressure.

Salary: R15,000 – R20,000 basic salary + commission + structured benefits.
