Plant Engineer – Automotive

Our client in the automotive industry is looking for a plant engineer in the Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth area.

Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in electrical engineering
• Certifications: Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) (GCC)
• Previous GMR (2) appointment and responsibility
• Automotive industry experience is a top priority
• Maintenance engineering experience covering all engineering disciplines (electrical/mechanical/instrumentation)
• Six or more years in plant engineering-related roles

Responsibilities:

• Equipment maintenance and reliability: Develop and execute preventive maintenance programmes, conduct regular inspections, and collaborate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment failures
• Process optimisation: Identify opportunities for process improvement, analyse production processes, and implement best practices to enhance productivity and quality
• Safety and compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, conduct risk assessments, and lead safety training sessions to promote a culture of safety
• Project management: Lead engineering projects related to plant expansion, upgrades, or modifications, ensuring timely completion within budget and quality standards
• All GMR (2) responsibilities including root cause analyses and investigation of incidents
• Ensure the achievement of the overall objectives of manufacturing services and maintenance
• Project management including the commissioning of new equipment
• Preparation and management of annual budgets
