Requirements:
Experience in teaching formal and/or computational linguistics;
Ability to teach isiZulu and/or Sesotho second language (L2) acquisition courses;
A PhD in any area of formal and/or computational linguistics;
Evidence of research ability, with 1-2 peer-reviewed publications;
Home language proficiency in at least one of the following and fluency in at least another two (isiZulu, isiXhosa, isiNdebele, Siswati, Sepedi, Sesotho, XiTsonga, and TshiVenda).
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be required to:
Lecture at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
Supervise postgraduate student research in one or more indigenous languages of South Africa (preferably in isiZulu and/or Sesotho);
Conduct research and publish in the field of African linguistics;
Carry out administrative duties in the department/school and take part in the intellectual and public life of the university;
Participate in curriculum transformation activities.
