Your Duties and Responsibilities…

  • Regular reporting and analysis on various aspects of the business.
    • Monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of actual performance vs forecast and vs budget
    • Reporting on various sections of the P/L (E.g. Employment, Marketing, Sales costs, IT costs, Property costs, Operational costs & Utilities).
    • Reporting on and performing analysis on the business’ membership numbers, including sales, terminations and transfers.
    • Reporting using various P/L views in line with local and Group reporting requirements
    • Monthly reporting to the Group of SA P/L and membership performances
    • Assisting with the maintenance of our 5 year forecasting model and the development of this model.
  • Budget preparation and analysis to support strategic direction of the business.
    • This includes bottom-up budgeting for various sections of the P/L (E.g. Employment, Marketing, Sales costs, IT costs, Property costs, Operational costs & Utilities) in conjunction with the HODs and Business unit owners, by providing relevant financial information and assisting with calculations and analysis to ensure accurate budgeting and budget adherence.
  • Being the finance business partner to various departments by providing the HODs with the relevant financial information to assist with budget preparation, budget adherence and evaluating ad-hoc projects (pre & post).
  • Financial appraisals of investment opportunities, including:
    • Financial modelling and scenarios analysis;
    • Analysis of member and other business information in support of this investment
    • Preparing relevant, concise and accurate reports supporting the model for Management. 
  • Value-adding analysis requested by VA Management. This would include but is not limited to:
    • Appraisal of membership contract changes; sales efficiencies and other income generating opportunities;
    • Evaluating of operating costs which will include the allocation of employed resources; structure amendments; utility efficiencies; rental costs and any other cost saving opportunities;
    • Developing and maintaining Best in Class (BIC) models for the business and implementing these in other areas;
    • Performing any other ad-hoc analysis as and when required.
  • Identification and analysis of trends and performance in the business.
  • Monthly reporting requirements to support decision-making processes above.
  • Assisting with and preparing Board Submission files in conjunction with the live forecasts and Budgets.
  • Assisting Management with ad-hoc analysis and report preparation.

  • CA (SA) with 2-4 years post-qualification experience.

  • Excellent MS-Excel abilities.

  • Have initiative and be well-organised.
  • Ability to work independently and see tasks through to completion.
  • Good writing and reporting skills using MS PowerPoint.
